Viewing CD images from the full version of eFilm

When you move studies or images to a CD, eFilm includes a limited version of their program on the CD itself for viewing and editing the images.  Called eFilmLite, this version of the program is missing a few features, such as the ability to export images.   If you want to perform these functions, you will need to use the full version of eFilm.

If you want to view images stored on a CD in the full version of eFilm, there are a couple things you can do.

    1. Analyze your needs

Do you need to use eFilm , or will eFilmLite serve the purpose?

    2. Grab the study from the scanner itself

It will usually be easier for you to just requery our scanners or archive and pull down the study you'd like to view from there.

    3. Follow steps in this document to move files off CD-ROM onto new machine

If you find yourself in need of using the full version of eFilm on your machine, and find pulling images from the scanners impossible or impractical (e.g., you're using a laptop or home PC not currently connected to our network,  you can use the steps presented herein to copy files off a cd into your current machines eFilm Directory.

Preparing images for use in the full version of eFilm

In order to move images off a CD and into the full version of eFilm, start by finding your images on the CD.  They are in directories under your CD's DICOM directory.  All of the directories which are highlighted in the image below contain studies.

You need to right click your mouse, and select the copy button.  You now need to find your eFilm image directory, right click inside that directory, and select Paste.  Finally, the database containing information on the studies present in your eFilm directory needs to be rebuilt.  To rebuild the database, open the eFilm Process Manager (by going to Start , Programs , eFilm Medical , eFilm , and clicking Process Manager.  Then, click on the Rebuild button near the top right of the window.

Confirm you wish to rebuild your database by clicking Yes to the prompt that appears next.

The database will now be rebuilt, and starting the full version of eFilm will have your studies appear in the "Local Studies" window.
